About The Position

The Registered Nurse works in the Medical Surgical department at Harlingen Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas. This is a full-time night-shift position with 12-hour shifts from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. The nurse assesses and monitors patients, administers medications, responds to changes in patient condition, coordinates care with the healthcare team, and provides education to patients and families. A $10,000 sign-on bonus is available for qualified candidates; eligibility and payout terms apply and are discussed during the interview process.

Requirements

• Current and valid state RN license.
• Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintained thereafter.

Nice To Haves

• Current ACLS certificate within 30 days of hire and maintained thereafter; preferred.
• Previous acute care hospital experience.
• Ventilator management experience.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough initial assessments and ongoing evaluations of patients' physical, emotional, and mental health.
• Monitor vital signs, intake and output, and other clinical indicators to detect changes in patient conditions.
• Recognize and act on warning signs of deterioration, including changes in heart rate, respiratory rate, or mental status.
• Safely administer prescribed oral, IV, subcutaneous, and intramuscular medications, and monitor for adverse effects or allergic reactions.
• Act as a liaison between patients, families, and the healthcare team to ensure patient needs are met.
• Educate patients about their condition, treatment options, and lifestyle adjustments to support recovery and prevent readmission.
• Communicate with doctors, specialists, physical therapists, and social workers to develop and adjust care plans.
