About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU/Critical Care) at St. Francis Medical Center delivers nursing care to acute and critically ill patients requiring intensive medical care. The nurse assesses patient status, prioritizes patient problems and needs, implements clinical interventions, develops and carries out care plans to improve outcomes, and helps ensure a safe, therapeutic environment. The role requires sound clinical judgment, decisive evidence-based action, and adaptability to rapidly changing patient conditions.

Requirements

• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• At least 1 year of RN experience.
• BLS Basic Life Support or ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification is required before direct patient care; ACLS must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
• For Pediatric Units, PALS is required in lieu of BLS/ACLS and must be obtained before direct patient care.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred, not required).
• Six months of RN experience in a Med/Surg, Critical Care, Stepdown, or Emergency Department unit.
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications are preferred at hire, subject to the role-specific requirements stated in the posting.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team.
• Conduct and analyze initial and ongoing patient assessments.
• Create and implement plans of care and evaluate treatment effectiveness.
• Synthesize and prioritize information to take immediate, decisive, evidence-based, patient-focused action using clinical judgment and inquiry.
• Anticipate and respond confidently to changing patient conditions.
• Administer medications safely in accordance with state practice requirements and organizational policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
