About The Position

This is a travel Registered Nurse position for Adolescent Behavioral Health Inpatient at Saint Helena, California. The assignment is temporary and lasts for 13 weeks. The role involves delivering coordinated nursing care to adolescent patients in inpatient behavioral health units, supervising and directing nursing staff, collecting patient data, developing and implementing care plans, and collaborating with patients, families, and the healthcare team to ensure a safe and healing environment. The nurse will also participate in discharge planning, delegate duties, and work with mental health technicians and support staff, adhering to unit safety protocols and crisis management procedures.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice (California)
  • BSN preferred; active license required
  • BLS certification
  • CPI or TEAM or TEAM-A certification
  • ACLS or ARC-ALS certification
  • PALS or ARC-PALS certification
  • At least two years of recent, relevant experience
  • Experience in behavioral health inpatient settings
  • Familiarity with two behavioral health units and adult/adolescent psychiatric care
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced inpatient behavioral health setting
  • Strong collaboration with MHTs and treatment teams
  • Capability to participate in on-call duties if required

Responsibilities

  • Deliver coordinated nursing care to adolescent patients in inpatient behavioral health units per established standards and the nursing process
  • Supervise and direct activities of various levels of assigned nursing staff; coordinate care with the multidisciplinary team
  • Collect relevant patient data, analyze assessments, develop and implement a care plan, and evaluate progress toward outcomes
  • Collaborate with patients, families, and the healthcare team to provide a safe, healing environment; provide patient/family education
  • Participate in discharge planning to ensure continuity of care; delegate appropriately and coordinate duties of the healthcare team
  • Work with mental health technicians and other support staff; adhere to unit safety protocols and crisis management procedures (CPI/TEAM)
