Registered Nurse - Emergency Department

About The Position

The Registered Nurse coordinates nursing care for monitored patients during their hospital stay, including cardiac monitoring, hemodynamic stabilization, response to emergent situations, and evidence-based care. The nurse ensures quality care in accordance with Michigan Department of Public Health, medical center, and nursing department standards. Using the nursing process, the role primarily provides direct patient care and contributes to a safe care environment while protecting patient privacy, dignity, confidentiality, and rights. The position is in the Emergency Department, with varying daily work times and a night shift. It is scheduled for 80 hours bi-weekly.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Possess a valid State of Michigan nursing license.
BLS certification.
ACLS certification within 3 months of hire.
Completed and current Basic Arrhythmia certification.
TNCC within 1 year of hire.
ENPC within 18 months of hire.
CPI within 1 year of hire.
Excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate and present oneself to patients, visitors, other staff, and physicians verbally and in writing in a courteous, confident, and professional manner.

Nice To Haves

Previous RN experience in an Emergency Department.
CEN, CPEN, and/or TCRN certification.
PALS certification.
BSN in Nursing.

Responsibilities

Perform purposeful hourly rounding, including checking pain, position, personal needs, and possessions.
Apply the nursing process to patient and family assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and discharge needs.
Triage patients in accordance with Emergency Severity Index (ESI) recommendations, from minor to critical.
Coordinate nursing care for monitored patients, including cardiac monitoring, hemodynamic stabilization, and response to emergent situations.
Maintain a safe patient care environment and uphold patient privacy, dignity, confidentiality, and rights.
