About The Position

We are seeking dedicated Registered Nurses to join the 3rd-floor MedSurg team, which specializes in caring for post-surgical patients and providing medical-surgical nursing services. The role involves delivering high-quality patient care in collaboration with a team. The unit has 28 beds, with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4–5 on days and 1:5–6 on nights. Nurses may float to other acuity levels, including ICU, PCU/Stepdown, and MS-Tele, as needed.

The position has 12-hour shifts and requires at least six weekend shifts in each six-week schedule, in alignment with department needs. Holiday work is required. Newly hired nurses attend a week of orientation; dates and locations are provided during onboarding. The facility is in the city of [City], [State]. Candidates must be willing to submit their driver’s licenses and reside within a 60-mile radius of the location.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of general medical-surgical nursing experience.
• BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Ability to read cardiac strips.
• Willingness to submit a driver’s license and reside within a 60-mile radius of the facility.
• Availability for a minimum of six weekend shifts within a six-week schedule and holiday work.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with surgical patient populations.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients recovering from surgical procedures, including pain management and post-operative monitoring.
• Titrate medication drips as necessary, including analgesics, anticoagulants, and antihypertensives.
• Monitor patients’ vital signs and report changes to the healthcare team.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Assist with orientation and training of new nursing staff and support aides.
• Float to other acuity levels, including ICU, PCU/Stepdown, and MS-Tele, as needed.
