About The Position

Banner Health’s New Nurse Experience (NNE) is a full-time Registered Nurse residency position designed to help recent graduates transition into professional nursing practice. The program offers a collaborative learning environment, clinical mentorship from unit staff and educators, and opportunities to develop nursing skills, knowledge, and professional relationships. The program is accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Practice Transition Accreditation Program (PTAP). New graduates are expected to remain on their assigned NNE unit for at least 12 months and live within a reasonable commuting distance of the facility. This role is on the Neuro-Stroke Progressive Care Unit, a nationally certified Primary Stroke Unit with three wings and 74 telemetry beds. The unit provides acute care for stroke and neurological patients, as well as cardiac, medical, and post-surgical patients. The position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and documents patient care in accordance with organizational policies and professional nursing standards. It is accountable for the quality of nursing services provided by the nurse and those under the nurse’s direction, using specialized knowledge and judgment to provide care appropriate to patients’ physical and developmental needs. The residency includes precepted clinical experiences, training in the Banner Simulation Center, competency and skills assessment, orientation to the Cerner electronic medical record, hands-on patient care skills lab, e-learning modules, and professional and personal development resources. Most new nurses work three 12-hour shifts, with weekend and holiday rotations. Shifts may be days (7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m.) or nights (7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.). This is a paid, full-time, benefited position. The role offers a $3-per-hour weekend shift differential and an 18% night shift differential when applicable. Banner Health’s Total Rewards Compensation Package includes, among other offerings, health, dental, and vision insurance (if elected), PTO and sick-time accrual, and 401(k) matching.
