About The Position

The Baylis Day Surgery Department provides outpatient surgeries in various specialties including Plastics, Orthopedics, General, Urology, Breast, Gynecology, ENT, Ophthalmology, Dental, and Pain Management. The Registered Nurse (RN) at Baylis ensures continuity of care from admission through the discharge process. The Pre/Post Op Nurse admits and prepares patients for surgical procedures and then recovers them for discharge. The Circulator Nurse escorts the patient to the OR, positions and preps them, and serves as the liaison between the surgeon and family members, providing updates. After the procedure, the Circulator Nurse transfers the patient to a stretcher and takes them to the recovery room. A Registered Nurse at Springfield Memorial Hospital (SMH), a Magnet hospital, is expected to provide high-quality care and continuously advance their learning. The SMH environment emphasizes that "care starts with caring" and that nursing is about caring for people. Working at Memorial means exceeding customer expectations by treating each patient as the only one, being a calm voice for families, finding answers, and displaying compassion in all interactions. The registered nurse is responsible for delegating, supervising, and providing nursing care for a designated group of patients using the nursing process. They will provide age-appropriate care, participate in research when appropriate, and incorporate research findings into evidence-based practice.
