About The Position

Geisinger is hiring a full-time inpatient Registered Nurse for its newly renovated, 20-bed adult Advanced Acute Care Medical Unit at Geisinger Medical Center. The unit has private rooms equipped with modern technology and supports a diverse adult patient population. The role provides compassionate, culturally sensitive, clinically excellent care in a clinical environment, working with an interdisciplinary team and embedded support services. The unit promotes safety, evidence-based practice, Just Culture, collaboration, and professional development. The position is scheduled for 36 hours per week on the day shift (7 a.m.–7 p.m.), including every other weekend and every other holiday. Self-scheduling is available. Eligible candidates may receive a hiring incentive and relocation assistance.

Requirements

Graduate from a specialty training program in nursing.
Basic Life Support certification.
Licensed Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania, or a temporary practice permit while preparing to take the NCLEX.
Clinical skills, communication, interpersonal communication, organizing, preceptor skills, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

Assess, plan, organize, perform, and evaluate nursing activities to meet patient needs.
Promote adaptive responses by patients and families to support high-quality care, safety, and patient satisfaction.
Provide compassionate care during patient-nurse interactions and coordinate patient care and staff interactions.
Complete assessments in accordance with scope of practice and unit standards.
Address patients’ and families’ physical, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual needs throughout the continuum of care.
Formulate, coordinate, and provide the plan of care, including patient and family education and discharge planning, with the interdisciplinary team.
Provide direct patient care, including treatments, medications, and diagnostic studies, according to policy and procedure.
Evaluate nursing interventions and revise the plan of care based on patient responses.
Collaborate with physicians, ancillary personnel, and interdisciplinary team members to proactively resolve and facilitate patient needs.
Troubleshoot equipment and take corrective measures in its care and handling.
Participate in unit-based decisions about the use of evidence-based practice.
Work as an accountable team member toward unit and organizational goals and metrics.
Participate in patient quality and safety education and other activities intended to improve quality and safety.
