About The Position

Geisinger is hiring a full-time inpatient Registered Nurse for the Advanced Acute Care Medical unit, GP3, at Geisinger Medical Center. GP3 is a 19-bed unit caring for medical patients, some of whom also undergo surgical and other procedures. Patients have a wide variety of illnesses and may require care involving drains, tubes, tracheostomies, and noninvasive respiratory devices such as BiPAP, HFNC, and CPAP. The schedule is 0.9 FTE (36 hours per week), straight nights, with every-other-weekend and every-other-holiday rotations. The RN assesses, plans, organizes, performs, and evaluates nursing care to meet patients’ needs and promote safety, satisfaction, and the best possible patient and family experience. The nurse provides compassionate direct care, coordinates care with staff and the interdisciplinary team, and addresses patients’ physical, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual needs throughout the continuum of care. The role includes patient and family education, discharge planning, administering treatments and medications, and conducting diagnostic studies in accordance with policies and procedures. The RN evaluates patient responses and adjusts the plan of care, collaborates proactively with physicians and other team members, participates in evidence-based practice and quality and safety initiatives, and contributes to unit and organizational goals and metrics. Work is typically performed in a clinical environment. Geisinger offers an eligible-candidate hiring incentive of up to $24,000, a minimum hiring rate of $41.50 with increased rates for experience, shift differentials of up to $7, and relocation assistance for eligible candidates.
