About The Position

Geisinger is hiring a full-time inpatient Registered Nurse for GP2, a 24-bed advanced acute care unit at Geisinger Medical Center. The unit provides complex inpatient care for a wide range of medical diagnoses requiring telemetry and frequent observation, including pneumonia, COPD, cardiac conditions, renal and GI disorders, sepsis, and postoperative care. GP2 is a fast-paced, team-oriented environment that works closely with the emergency room and PACU, and can offer experience relevant to future ER or critical-care nursing work. The nurse assesses, plans, organizes, performs, and evaluates nursing activities to meet patient needs and promote safety, satisfaction, and the best possible patient and family experience. The role includes compassionate patient interactions, coordination of care and staff, and meeting the qualifications required to care for patients on the assigned unit. Work is typically performed in a clinical environment, and the nurse must comply with organizational policies and job-specific obligations. Department-specific orientation competencies are also essential. The schedule is 0.9 FTE (36 hours per week), straight days, with every other weekend and every other holiday rotation. The job offers a hiring incentive of up to $24,000 for eligible candidates, a minimum hiring rate of $41.50 with increased rates for experienced individuals, shift differentials of up to $7 for evening, night, and weekend shifts, and relocation assistance for eligible candidates. Geisinger Medical Center has received ANCC Magnet Recognition for nursing practice and quality patient care.
