RN, Registered Nurse - Operating Room

About The Position

The Registered Nurse works in the Surgery department at Mount Carmel New Albany, which has 10 operating rooms and focuses primarily on orthopedic surgery, including hips, knees, shoulders, spine, sports medicine, and podiatry. The department occasionally handles plastics and general surgery cases, averages 15–20 cases per day, requires minimal call, and has no weekend coverage. The team is described as having a family-like atmosphere for staff and patients. Within the scope of the Ohio Nurse Practice Act, the RN provides care attentive to each person’s physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. Working collaboratively as part of a team, the RN is accountable for delivering patient care through the Nursing Process and in accordance with the organization’s standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines. The role supports patient safety, evidence-based practice, quality initiatives, and professionalism consistent with the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program.

Requirements

Graduate from a school of nursing.
Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio.

Responsibilities

Provide nursing care, ensure patient safety, promote evidence-based practice and quality initiatives, and exhibit professionalism in nursing practice.
Assess and evaluate care for an assigned group of patients using evidence-based practice.
Collaborate with patients and families to develop and implement a plan of care that includes physical, spiritual, and educational components.
Communicate pertinent information accurately and promptly to appropriate team members and keep patients and families updated.
Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and completely in accordance with applicable standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Assume responsibility and accountability for care provided and documented by other licensed and unlicensed caregivers, as appropriate.
