About The Position

The Registered Nurse provides direct and indirect holistic care to adult and geriatric patients in the Observation Unit, also known as the Clinical Decision Unit (CDU), at Bethesda North Hospital. The 35-bed inpatient unit cares for patients needing short-term monitoring, diagnostic testing, and treatment, including medical, pre- and post-surgical, and cardiac care. The RN applies the nursing process, collaborates with physicians and other healthcare team members, and supports patients and families through clinical decisions. The role may delegate aspects of care to staff under the RN’s direct supervision within the scope of nursing practice. The unit emphasizes efficient care delivery, close monitoring, teamwork, patient safety, and compassionate, culturally sensitive care. New team members receive corporate orientation, individualized onboarding, preceptor-supported training, and unit orientation tailored to their experience, typically lasting 4–8 weeks. Nurses may develop expertise through NIHSS certification, ACLS/BLS training, ECG/telemetry skills, code-readiness exercises, and shadowing opportunities. This is an on-site position at Bethesda North Hospital in Montgomery, Ohio. The posting identifies the role as part-time nights in its opening details, but later lists an FTE of full-time, 36 hours weekly. The unit follows a six-week scheduling cycle, with every-third-weekend and holiday rotations. Weekend programs and PRN/optional scheduling are also described as available options. TriHealth describes a collaborative nursing culture that supports professional development, continuing education, degree advancement, specialty certification, evidence-based practice, and collegial relationships among nurses, physicians, and other caregivers.
