About The Position
Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is seeking Registered Nurses for their Surgical Trauma Intensive Care Unit. This is an invite-only interview day event scheduled for Wednesday, October 28, 2026. The Surgical Trauma ICU is a 16-bed unit that handles immediate surgical recovery of Kidney and Pancreas Transplants, complex vascular surgeries, and general surgical patients requiring ICU care. Responsibilities include managing patients requiring mechanical ventilation, CRRT, and hemo-dialysis. The unit also manages a variety of vascular conditions and procedures. The patient population served includes adult medical and surgical patients requiring intensive nursing care, with an average length of stay of 2-3 days, though complex patients may stay longer than 30 days. Full-time night and rotating shift openings are available. This role involves assessing/admitting patients, rounding checks, administering medications, communicating with family members, and overall patient care responsibility. Teamwork is emphasized.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse
- Experience in Surgical Trauma ICU
- Experience with Kidney/Pancreas Transplants
- Experience with complex vascular surgeries
- Experience managing patients requiring mechanical ventilation
- Experience managing patients requiring CRRT and hemo-dialysis
- Experience with vascular procedures including lower extremity revascularization, Abdominal Aortic Aneurism, Mesenteric Artery Repair, EVAR, TEVAR, Lower extremity bypass, revascularization, Carotid Endarectomy and Carotid Stent, EKOS- treatment for DVTs, Medical management of AAA’s and dissections
- Ability to provide intensive nursing care to adult medical and surgical patients
