About The Position

Hospice of Wichita Falls is seeking a Registered Nurse to join its In-Patient Center Team. The role provides hospice care to patients and families in Wichita, Archer, Clay, Jack, Montague, and Young counties, helping patients and families feel welcomed and at home in the Center. The nurse works collaboratively with other team members, performs patient and family assessments upon admission, incorporates assessment data into the Comprehensive Plan of Care, and updates the plan as needed. The position supports Hospice of Wichita Falls' mission to provide care, hope, and support to patients and families when illness threatens life, while honoring patients' wishes whenever possible.

Requirements

• Ability to work independently, be self-directed, and demonstrate leadership ability.
• Ability to understand the physical, psychosocial, and spiritual concerns and problems of terminally ill patients in the home setting.
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
• Understanding of disease processes and ability to educate others about disease processes and expected changes.
• Ability to relate well with patients, families, the community, and healthcare professionals.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to be at work as scheduled and remain alert and awake.
• Ability to advance computer knowledge.
• Demonstrated competency as defined.

Responsibilities

• Perform assessments of patients and families upon admission.
• Incorporate assessment data into the Comprehensive Plan of Care and update it as needed.
• Help ensure patients and families feel welcomed and at home in the Center.
• Interact and work as a team with other members of the organization.
• Oversee, educate, and positively direct other team members.
