About The Position

The Registered Nurse in the Med-Surg/West 3 department at Canton-Potsdam Hospital provides assessment, care planning, and direct treatment in a patient- and family-centered manner. Care is delivered according to professional nursing standards, licensure and regulatory scope, and established hospital policies, procedures, and protocols. The position is scheduled for 37.5 hours per week on 12-hour night shifts, with a weekend requirement.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited nursing school program.
• Current, unrestricted New York State registered professional nursing license.
• AHA BLS upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments to identify patient and family needs.
• Develop and implement comprehensive plans of care involving patients and families.
• Perform and document direct patient- and family-centered care and patient education according to nursing standards of practice.
• Identify and respond to patient conditions to achieve positive patient outcomes.
• Perform discharge planning to ensure a safe and appropriate transition of care.
• Direct and delegate care provided by unlicensed team members.
• Provide world-class customer service to patients and families.
