Registered Nurse: Med-Surg Oncology
About The Position
Sentara RMH Medical Center is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Medical Oncology unit. This is a 36-bed medical-surgical & telemetry unit with a subpopulation of oncology, chemotherapy, and end-of-life care. The team provides compassionate high-quality care to a diverse patient population. A sign-on bonus of up to $20,000 is offered with no commitment. The role utilizes the EPIC electronic medical record and offers supportive staffing with RN ratios of 1:6 (plus charge nurse & PCT support) and PCT ratios of 1:8-13 (plus charge nurse & RN support). Upcoming graduates from approved nursing programs are encouraged to apply. A 10-week Transition to Practice (TTP) program focuses on orientation and skill acquisition for Medical-Surgical areas. For new graduates, this is the start of a comprehensive 6-month residency program. The program includes formal delivery of fundamental nursing concepts, exposure to Sentara policies and evidence-based practice guidelines, hands-on experience with a nurse preceptor, and opportunities to network with peers. Experienced nurses can opt for virtual professional development sessions with mentoring.
Requirements
- Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
- Registered Nurse (Required)

- Performing a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation).
