Registered Nurse (RN) - Intermediate Care Unit (Stepdown)
About The Position
Sentara Leigh Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for our Intermediate Care Unit (Stepdown). This 24-bed unit is blended with 8 Step-Down beds for patients who are too ill for general medical/surgical but do not need the intensive level of care of the ICU. The remaining 16 beds are for Med/Surg patients, including some cardiac patients. New graduate nurses are welcome to apply and will participate in an 11-week Transition to Practice program, which is the start of a comprehensive 6-month residency program to support their transition to practice. Experienced nurses moving into this specialty are also welcomed.
Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
- Registered nursing License (Required)
- Students in the process of obtaining a Registered Nursing License.
- BLS required within 90 days of hire
- None required (for experience)
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)
- Students in the process of completing an accredited nursing program.
Responsibilities
- Perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process.
- Utilize the standards of practice including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and coordination of care (teaching and health promotion and evaluation).
- Adhere to the standards of professional performance including ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice/nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health.
- Possess clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
