About The Position

St. Luke’s Health System in Boise is seeking an experienced RN to join our Inpatient BMT/Medical Oncology team! This is a 24-bed unit where you will gain experience caring for patients along every phase of the cancer continuum, from diagnosis and treatment to palliative/symptom management and comfort care. You will care for post-surgical patients, patients receiving chemotherapy and some medical-surgical overflow. Those interested in an ICU-type experience will be able to care for patients who are critically ill and need close monitoring/intervention. Typical RN to patient ratios on this unit is 1:3. For CNAs, the ratios are typically 1:7-10. You will gain experience in chemotherapy administration, working with the young adult population, symptom management/palliative care, and Idaho's only autologous and allogeneic blood and bone marrow transplants (BMT) programs. In 2022 this unit also became Idaho’s only center for chimeric antigen T cell receptor (CAR-T) Therapy. You will also gain expertise working with central lines, monitoring lab results and treating critical electrolyte imbalances and blood cell counts. In addition, the unit offers a biennial oncology conference, biennial stem cell transplant conference, cross-training to a connected outpatient unit, and multiple leadership opportunities to enhance and advance oncology care.
