About The Position

WANDER STAFFING seeks to add fifteen (15) Registered Nurses to our Team! These positions are located at the Health Services Department at the Federal Medical Center (FMC) Carswell, located at 1200 Meandering Road, Fort Worth, TX 76114. The Federal Medical Center, Carswell (FMC Carswell) is a federal correctional institution and medical facility operated by the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Located on the grounds of the former Carswell Air Force Base in Fort Worth, Texas, it is the only federal medical center for women in the Bureau of Prisons system. The facility provides specialized medical and mental health care for female inmates from across the United States who require advanced or long-term treatment. In addition to medical services, FMC Carswell functions as a secure correctional institution with multiple custody levels and support services. Because of its specialized mission, the facility employs a wide range of healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, mental health providers, and allied health staff, to support both routine and complex patient care needs within the correctional environment. Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (ADN/BSN)
  • Current, valid, unrestricted RN license in Texas
  • BLS
  • Minimum of 6 months of nursing experience, preferably in correctional settings
  • Must be able to pass a federal background check

Responsibilities

  • Providing direct patient care which includes taking and recording patient history, vital signs, making appointments, and assisting staff clinicians in routine clinical activities
  • Screening eye and auditory exams and assisting advanced practice providers and physicians in minor surgical cases.
  • Operating of EKG machines, blood pressure machines, cardiac monitors, glucometers, thermometers, automatic external defibrillators, and other special medical apparatuses and equipment within the Health Services Department.
  • Assisting staff clinicians and clinical specialty consultants in the management and coordination of patient flow through the Specialty Care Clinic, Ambulatory Clinic, Telemedicine clinic and Mental Health Unit.
  • Assisting the Infectious Disease Coordinator with PPD planting/reading and recording of results, Covid-19 testing and immunizations.
  • Assisting with completing In-Transit medical record forms.
  • Assisting providers in the urgent care areas during emergencies, as necessary including triaging.
  • Must be able to assess a patient's condition on an on-going basis and appropriately select the standing orders to be followed, as well as refer patients to the appropriate medical practitioner.
  • General patient care duties, including those required on the in-patient Nursing Care Center (NCC 1 and 2), Borders, Mental Health (M1, M3) and the Administrative Unit.
  • Developing a nursing assessment for each patient, to include planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care.
  • Assessing and identifying high risk symptoms/behaviors in patients, to include suicidal risk, homicidal risk, and risk for verbal/physical abuse.
  • Monitoring, evaluating, and revising the care plan as needed.
  • Assessing and documenting the discharge planning needs of a patient.

Benefits

  • Evening: $57.50/hr
  • Night/Weekend: $60/hr
