About The Position

This position oversees all aspects of operations and services rendered at the BEPHU, providing services typically found in an Occupational Health Medical Office. These services include audiometry, spirometry screenings, immunizations, and worker's compensation follow-up. The Lead Nurse will also assist the medical director with monitoring pandemic-related communications and reporting urgent matters. A laptop may be provided for reviewing documents, responding to inquiries, and addressing employee questions. The Lead Nurse is expected to wear professional medical attire at all times within the facility, act as a nurse case manager for worker's compensation cases, and utilize web-based computer systems, medical software, Occupational Health and Safety software, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Requirements

  • Successfully earned a graduate or Baccalaureate degree from an accredited nursing program
  • Licensed to practice in Fort Worth, Texas
  • Certified as a Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC), retraining every 5 years
  • Completed National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health Spirometry training program (16 hours every 5 years)
  • Completed CPR/AED training every 2 years and respond to emergencies as first responders
  • Certified Occupational Health Nurse Training (Required for Lead Nurse)
  • Recertification required every 5 years for COHNS
  • Experience in management, supervising, and guidance to the treatment nurses
  • Able to maintain data and prepare reports daily, weekly, monthly and annually

Nice To Haves

  • This course is offered to registered nurses with a bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • The focus of the COHNS certification examination is on the roles of management education consultation and case management, in addition to direct care.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects, operations and all services rendered at the BEPHU
  • Provide all other services normally offered under an Occupational Health Medical Office Services to include audiometry, spirometry screenings, immunizations, and worker’s compensation follow up
  • Assist the medical director with monitoring any Local, State, or Federal Pandemic mailbox and inform the medical director of all urgent matters
  • Review physical documents, respond to inquiries that the COR may have, respond to questions from employees, and review documents pertaining to BEP’s mission
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Act as the nurse case manager for worker’s compensation cases
  • Work with web-based computer systems, medical software, Occupational Health and Safety software, as well as Microsoft Office Suite software
