About The Position

This position serves as a Registered Nurse – Staff Nurse in Fort Worth, TX, operating within a 24-hour facility that is open five days a week (Monday-Friday), with potential weekend coverage required for day, evening, and midnight shifts. The role involves acting as a nurse case manager for worker’s compensation cases and providing a range of occupational health services including audiometry, spirometry screenings, immunizations, and worker’s compensation follow-up. The nurse will utilize web-based computer systems, medical software, Occupational Health and Safety software, and Microsoft Office Suite. A key responsibility includes assisting the Medical Director with monitoring pandemic-related communications and reporting urgent matters. The position requires adherence to professional medical attire at all times within the facility and performing other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Licensed to practice in Fort Worth, Texas.
  • Must take CPR/AED training every 2 years and respond to emergencies as first responders.
  • Must have a bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • Must take National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health Spirometry training program (16 hours every 5 years).
  • Must take Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC) training every 5 years.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN-S) is encouraged, but not required for Registered Nurse.
  • Recertification is required every 5 years for COHN-S.
  • CEU’s are earned instead of hours for COHN-S.
  • This course is offered to registered nurses with a bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • The focus of the COHN-S certification examination is on the roles of management education consultation and case management, in addition to direct care.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the nurse case manager for worker’s compensation cases.
  • Provide all other services normally offered under an Occupational Health Medical Office Services to include audiometry, spirometry screenings, immunizations, and worker’s compensation follow up.
  • Wear professional medical attire at all times while within the facility.
  • Work with web-based computer systems, medical software, Occupational Health and Safety software, as well as Microsoft Office Suite software.
  • Assist the Medical Director with monitoring any Local, State, or Federal Pandemic mailbox and inform the medical director of all urgent matters.
  • Review and interpret spirometry tests (Pulmonary Function Test).
  • Review audiograms, determine work relatedness of hearing loss, follow up work related hearing loss, and manage audiometric databases.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
