About The Position

The Registered Nurse provides high-quality patient care on the 7N Cardiac Telemetry unit, a 36-bed unit in Independence, Missouri. The role includes caring for patients recovering from cardiac procedures, administering medications, and monitoring vital signs. The unit has 70 staff members and patient ratios of 4 to 5:1. The electronic medical record system is Meditech. Typical floating areas include other telemetry departments, medical-surgical units, and progressive care units. Registered Nurses wear grey scrubs.

Requirements

• ACLS certification.
• Experience recovering post-catheterization patients; sheath removal is not required.
• Experience with pacemaker placements.
• Experience with stroke patients.
• Ability to administer amiodarone and Cardizem drips.
• Fast-paced, high-energy approach and a strong sense of teamwork.

Nice To Haves

• NIH certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality patient care on the telemetry unit.
• Manage patients recovering from cardiac procedures.
• Administer medications, including amiodarone and Cardizem drips.
• Monitor vital signs.
• Work three weekend shifts within a four-week schedule; weekend shifts may be Friday and Saturday for nights or Saturday and Sunday for days.
• Float to other telemetry departments, medical-surgical units, and progressive care units as needed.
