Registered Nurse - Cardiovascular Unit
About The Position
The Registered Nurse delivers nursing care within the assigned unit’s scope of practice, following hospital policies and procedures, nursing process guidelines, and applicable standards of care and practice. The 40-bed Cardiovascular Unit provides continuous cardiac monitoring and progressive critical care to a high-acuity adult patient population. It serves as a step-down and post-procedural bridge and cares for patients with complex cardiovascular and pulmonary conditions, patients recovering from open-heart and lung surgery, and patients following interventional diagnostic procedures. Clinical areas of focus include cardiovascular and heart failure care, cardiothoracic surgical recovery, respiratory management, and post-interventional care. The interprofessional team includes cardiologists, surgeons, pulmonologists, and specialized nurses, and uses advanced monitoring and evidence-based care to support patient outcomes and recovery.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Hold a current State of Michigan Registered Nurse license.
- Hold American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS certification as a Healthcare Provider.
- For RNs in Step-Down, Telemetry Floats, and the other listed departments, obtain ACLS within six months of hire into the department.
- Experience in a specialty area will be considered. Experience specific to the unit or position may be required to maintain the unit’s overall competency level, as required by a regulatory agency.
Nice To Haves
- One year of professional nursing experience.
- ACLS certification in units where it is not required.
Responsibilities
- Assess assigned patients, document and evaluate their responses to the plan of care, and take appropriate corrective action.
- Plan and implement each patient’s plan of care or standard of care and provide patient teaching using that plan.
- Oversee ancillary personnel performing technical tasks.
