About The Position

The Nurse (RN) – Behavioral Health Urgent Care (BHUC) Integrated manages medications, screens for medical issues, and promotes health in a Tier IV BHUC. The role engages beneficiaries in whole-person care during mental health and substance abuse crises. The RN coordinates with providers, supports triage and medical screenings, supervises LPNs, and documents billable encounters in the electronic medical record within 24 hours. The schedule is 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., with three to four 12-hour shifts each week (36–48 hours weekly). The posting offers a $5,000 sign-on bonus and states a minimum salary of $36 per hour.

Requirements

Associate’s degree in Nursing or higher.
At least 1 year of experience with serious mental illness.
Medical knowledge.
Empathetic interaction.
Strong clinical skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Valid North Carolina or Compact Nursing License.
Driver’s license and insurance.

Responsibilities

Manage medications in coordination with providers.
Administer and document treatments.
Screen for and monitor medication side effects, including through AIMS and nursing assessments.
Build rapport with beneficiaries and engage them in health promotion, prevention, and education.
Develop medication adherence strategies.
Coordinate with providers and educate the team about symptoms and side effects.
Direct and supervise LPNs.
Support triage and medical screenings, including vital signs and emergencies.
Document billable encounters in the EMR within 24 hours.
Support involuntary commitment (IVC), discharge planning, and follow-ups.
