Registered Nurse - Inpatient Psych
About The Position
The Registered Nurse provides inpatient adult psychiatric care at Henry Ford St John Hospital, on a 27-bed behavioral health unit. The unit supports patients’ medical and mental well-being during stays averaging 5–10 days, with longer stays depending on individual needs. Nurses work as part of a team supported by three psychiatrists and multiple Behavioral Health Technicians each day. The recently renovated unit encourages shared governance, growth, and educational development. This is a full-time, benefit-eligible position scheduled for 36 hours per week on the night shift, from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM. The schedule consists of three 12-hour shifts per week and rotates every other weekend and observed holiday. A $7,500 sign-on bonus is offered.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
- Current licensure by the Michigan State Board of Nursing.
- Health care provider certification (BCLS).
- Clinical knowledge and analytical abilities to formulate effective nursing care plans.
- Ability to perform a wide variety of professional nursing services.
- Effective communication skills with patients, families, and hospital personnel.
- At least one year of prior medical nursing experience.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Responsibilities
- Lead the coordination and delivery of compassionate, quality patient care.
- Use the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
- Delegate, supervise, and document care and teaching for patients and families.
- Communicate pertinent patient and family information to the healthcare team.
- Identify and implement solutions for variances from patient goals.
