About The Position

Indiana University Health is hiring a full-time Registered Nurse for its Med/Surg Psych service at IU Methodist, working day shifts. Nurses hired into Behavioral Health Services are cross-trained to work across B8, C8, Secured Holding, and ECT. B8 is a 20-bed medical-surgical unit for patients with a primary medical diagnosis and secondary psychiatric diagnosis, including alcohol withdrawal, Alzheimer’s disease or dementia, altered mental status, and other mental health conditions. C8 is a 16-bed locked psychiatric unit serving patients with primary psychiatric diagnoses such as schizophrenia, suicidal or homicidal ideation, and psychosis. Secured Holding is a five-bed emergency psychiatric unit where patients presenting to the emergency department for mental health issues are assessed and placed at an appropriate level of care. ECT provides electroconvulsive therapy, primarily for depression and catatonia, to 18–24 patients three days per week. The position offers opportunities to develop medical and psychiatric nursing skills, including de-escalation, blood administration, IVIG, tracheostomy care, PCA pumps, wound management, and practice across medically and behavioral-health-licensed areas. The unit emphasizes a supportive team and leader environment, learning and professional development, and strong physician/RN relationships. This referral-eligible position currently qualifies for a new hourly location differential, in addition to standard shift and holiday differentials.
