MedDay/PACU - Registered Nurse PRN
About The Position
The Registered Nurse renders professional and technical nursing care to assigned patients, providing direct and indirect care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The RN directs and supervises assigned team members and collaborates with multidisciplinary staff to provide age- and developmentally appropriate care in accordance with unit standards. The position supports Methodist Health System’s mission, vision, values, and strategic goals, and contributes to a collaborative, patient-centered environment focused on improving the patient experience and professional growth.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
- Current license to practice professional nursing in Texas.
- Current Basic Life Support certification.
- Additional certifications as required by the department.
- Knowledge of hospital policies, procedures, and nursing care standards.
- At least 12 months of RN experience or completion of a Nurse Residency Program.
- Ability to work with confidential material.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct and indirect patient care using the nursing process throughout the episode of care.
- Direct and supervise assigned team members and collaborate with multidisciplinary staff to provide appropriate care.
- Assume responsibility for nursing components of patient, family, and significant-other education.
- Communicate with the care team, coworkers, patients, and family members, and evaluate understanding of information.
- Create and maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, coworkers, and the facility.
- Ensure complete, accurate, and timely written communication of patient information.
- Administer medications and IVs safely, accurately, and on time.
- Follow hospital standards and use communication, interpersonal, and team-building skills to promote a cooperative work environment.
- Take personal responsibility and initiative for performance and professional growth and development.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
