The Registered Nurse (RN) position is a full-time role within the Nursing Services department. This position may provide direct nursing care to residents and supervises the day-to-day nursing activities performed by licensed practical nurses, certified nursing assistants, and other nursing personnel. The RN ensures adherence to current federal, state, and local regulations, guidelines, and facility policies and procedures, promoting holistic care for residents. Responsibilities include directing daily activities of nursing staff, participating in resident admissions, discharges, and transfers, assessing resident status changes, transcribing and administering physician orders, performing wound treatments, scheduling appointments, providing direct care skills, performing rounds, collaborating with the interdisciplinary team, participating in management meetings, assisting in performance evaluations, reporting incidents, participating in end-of-life care, ensuring adequate supplies, and updating care plans. The role also emphasizes promoting teamwork, mutual respect, and effective communication, participating in surveys and QAPI activities, and ensuring infection control principles are followed. Additional tasks include treating residents with dignity and respect, protecting resident rights, maintaining a culture of compliance, adhering to safety and hygiene measures, maintaining confidentiality of protected health information, reporting noncompliance and retaliation, protecting residents from abuse, reporting occupational exposures, participating in emergency drills, and reporting work-related injuries. Compliance with facility standards, policies, and procedures is a condition of employment and will be a factor in performance evaluations.
