About The Position
Johnson 6 is a 37-bed medical unit that accommodates a variety of patient populations, including those with chronic medical conditions and behavioral health needs. The unit features private rooms, overflow beds, and a negative pressure room. Patients admitted to Johnson 6 are 16 years of age or older and are cared for by a diverse medical team. Common diagnoses include pancreatitis, stroke, dementia, cancer, and substance abuse issues. Nursing diagnoses focus on nutritional deficits, safety, skin integrity, body image, cellulitis, and pain management. The unit benefits from an on-site pharmacist during weekdays to assist with complex pharmaceutical interventions and provider order management, fostering collaboration for optimal patient outcomes.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current Massachusetts Registered Nurse license
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required

Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care to a diverse patient population on a 37-bed medical unit.
- Manage patients with chronic medical conditions and behavioral health needs, including those on suicide precautions.
- Administer complex pharmaceutical interventions and manage provider orders.
- Collaborate with the unit-based pharmacist and other healthcare providers to achieve high-quality patient outcomes.
- Monitor patients for changes in condition and implement appropriate nursing interventions.
- Ensure patient safety, including fall risk prevention and skin integrity.
- Provide pain management and support patients experiencing alterations in body image or powerlessness.
