About The Position

The Registered Nurse works in the 18-bed Brighton Short Stay Unit at Trinity Health Ann Arbor. The unit provides post-surgical and inpatient observation care for patients who need a short period of hospital-level care, typically less than 36 hours. The team cares for patients recovering from procedures, monitors for changes in condition, coordinates tests and consultations, and prepares patients for timely discharge. This is a part-time position working 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, including weekend and holiday coverage.

Requirements

• Graduate from a school of nursing that enables the graduate to sit for the NCLEX exam to become licensed as a Registered Nurse.
• Hold a current State of Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Hold BLS certification.
• Have graduated from an accredited nursing program.
• New hires must have a BSN or agree in writing to obtain a BSN within five years from the date of hire or transfer to an RN role; this requirement applies to hires from January 1, 2013 onward.
• Knowledge of nursing theory, practice, and age-specific needs.
• Interpersonal skills to initiate and maintain collegial relationships with coworkers and therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
• Critical-thinking skills necessary to perform the principal duties and responsibilities of the role.
• Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when planning and performing professional nursing care.

Nice To Haves

• BSN preferred.

• Gather and analyze patient information.
• Develop, implement, evaluate, and revise an individualized plan of care.
• Use teach-back methodology to educate patients and families.
• Actively seek to prevent potential hospital-acquired conditions.
• Communicate patient status, priority goals, and interventions during consultations, rounds, and handoffs.
• Follow all HIPAA policies and procedures.
