About The Position

Scripps Memorial La Jolla is hiring a full-time Registered Nurse for its 30-bed Neuro-Surgical Trauma ICU (NST ICU), a unit within a nationally designated Magnet Hospital, Comprehensive Stroke Center, and Level I Trauma Center. The NST ICU cares for acute patients with a variety of disease states and serves as a destination center for higher-level neurosurgical and trauma care in Southern California. Nurses gain experience in trauma and critically injured patient care, comprehensive stroke care, neurosurgery, interventional radiology, shock and advanced resuscitation, mechanical circulatory support, CRRT, MTP, and Target Temperature Management. The unit also works with EVDs, Camino monitors, Licox monitors, and lumbar drains. The RN provides direct patient care within the scope of practice, including assessment, planning and implementing a plan of care, and evaluating progress toward expected outcomes. The RN takes primary responsibility for patients’ care as delivered by the Care Team under the RN’s supervision and collaborates with other patient-care team members to support optimal care. The unit offers customized training, clinical mentors, educators, and one-on-one preceptorships to support nurses’ professional development. This position is based at Scripps Memorial La Jolla and is scheduled for 72 hours per two-week pay period on 12-hour night shifts. It is eligible for new-hire and relocation incentives of up to $7,000, subject to eligibility criteria. Internal candidates and rehires who left Scripps less than three years ago are not eligible for hiring incentives. Retention-incentive eligibility requires remaining in the original hired FTE status and shift (if specified in the offer letter), department or specialty, and job title. Transfers to other locations are reviewed case by case and may result in forfeiture of the remaining incentive unless specifically noted in the offer letter.
