About The Position

Geisinger is hiring a Registered Nurse for its new Advanced Acute Care Medical Surgical Unit at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre. The RN assesses, plans, organizes, performs, and evaluates nursing activities to meet patient needs, promote safety, and maximize patient and family satisfaction. The role involves compassionate patient interactions, coordination of care and staff, and ensuring an excellent patient and family experience. Work is typically performed in a clinical environment, and the nurse must meet the qualifications to care for patients on the assigned unit. The position is scheduled for day shifts, 7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m., with 36 scheduled weekly hours and every-other-weekend and holiday requirements. Requirements

Graduate from a nursing specialty training program.
Current Pennsylvania Registered Nurse license.
Basic Life Support certification.

Responsibilities

Complete assessments in accordance with scope of practice and unit standards.
Address the physical, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual needs of patients and families throughout the continuum of care.
Formulate, coordinate, and provide plans of care in accordance with unit standards, including patient and family education, family needs, and discharge planning in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
Provide direct patient care, including treatments, medications, and diagnostic studies, according to policy and procedure.
Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions and revise plans of care based on patient responses.
Collaborate with physicians, ancillary personnel, and interdisciplinary team members, proactively resolving and facilitating patient needs.
Troubleshoot and take corrective measures in the care and handling of equipment.
Participate in unit-based decision-making about the use of evidence-based practice.
Work as a team member toward unit and organizational goals and remain accountable for unit- and system-specific metrics.
Participate in patient quality and safety education programs and other activities to improve departmental and organizational quality and safety.
Coordinate patient care and staff interactions while promoting adaptive responses, patient safety, and patient satisfaction.
