About The Position

The Registered Nurse provides safe, direct patient care in the Acute Medical Surgical Unit using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The RN is accountable for care delivered to assigned patients and maintains standards of care within the unit. The role also includes directing and guiding patient and family education and the activities of other nursing personnel. The RN communicates changes in a patient’s clinical condition to physicians, including cardiac monitoring, diagnostic study results, and symptoms, and responds quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment.

This is a full-time, night-shift position at Holy Family Medical Center, an LTACH in Des Plaines, Illinois, with 12-hour shifts and rotating weekends and holidays. A sign-on bonus of up to $10,000 is available to qualified newly hired RNs; eligibility and payout terms apply and are discussed during the interview process.

Requirements

• Current and valid state RN license.
• Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.

Nice To Haves

• Current ACLS certificate within 30 days of hire and maintain current (preferred).
• Previous acute care hospital experience (preferred).
• Ventilator management experience (preferred).
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe patient care using assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Provide direct patient care within the scope of practice.
• Direct and guide patient and family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel.
• Maintain standards of care within the Medical/Surgical Unit.
• Remain directly responsible and accountable for care delivered to assigned patients.
• Communicate changes in patients’ clinical conditions to physicians, including cardiac monitoring, diagnostic study results, and symptoms.
• Respond quickly and accurately to changes in patient condition or response to treatment.
