About The Position

The PreOp/PACU Registered Nurse provides direct patient care using the nursing process, demonstrates clinical competence relevant to the area of nursing practice, and adheres to the ANA Code of Ethics. The role is full-time, 1.0 FTE, Monday through Friday, with call.

Requirements

Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
Current RN license in the State of Missouri or a Compact State.
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing preferred.
One year of health care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Follow hospital policies for patient safety, including infection prevention, safe patient handling and movement, and critical lab notification.
Provide quality nursing care, including medication administration, nursing interventions, and patient and family teaching, in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments to monitor patient status, improve quality and safety, and provide accurate information to the health care team.
Document patient care activities and required quality monitoring items accurately and efficiently to support compliance with established quality measures.
Communicate pertinent patient information to physicians and appropriate team members to improve patient outcomes and quality of care.
Communicate with patients and families in a timely manner to enhance the patient experience and promote learning that supports health care outcomes.
Delegate appropriately to team members while fostering teamwork and accountability.
Adapt positively and professionally to changes in health care in support of the hospital's mission, vision, and values.
Use critical thinking in nursing practice and develop skills through continuing education and other educational opportunities.
Perform delegated tasks as directed to maintain quality and enhance patient safety.
