Registered Nurses use the nursing process—assessment, planning, intervention, documentation, and evaluation—to provide direct and indirect patient care in their assigned areas, addressing patients’ age-appropriate needs. They follow nursing department philosophies, policies, and procedures to develop individualized education and care plans and provide appropriate education and support to family members. Nurses use judgment and knowledge of patient and family needs when directing ancillary staff. They are responsible for customer satisfaction, maintaining patient confidentiality, and addressing age-specific needs for comfort, privacy, and general care. Incumbents complete competency requirements annually for their areas of responsibility. The role is at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, a 122-bed general acute care community hospital in Torrington, Connecticut.
