About The Position

Memorial Health is seeking a Registered Nurse to join its Pre-Admission Testing (PAT) Clinic. The clinic conducts testing and assessments before surgery to support patient safety and positive surgical outcomes. Services include laboratory work, EKGs, pulmonary studies, and coordination of specialist referrals as needed. The role supports patients undergoing a wide range of procedures at Memorial Hospital and the Memorial Hospital Outpatient Surgery Center. This full-time, benefits-eligible position conducts pre-operative assessments in person, virtually, or by phone; reviews patient histories and medications; facilitates diagnostic testing and referrals; and provides patients and families with pre-operative instructions. The RN documents assessments and communications in Epic, supports clinic workflow, and follows applicable regulatory, infection-control, and safety requirements.

Requirements

Active Ohio nursing license.
Degree from an accredited nursing program.
Two years of experience in a medical office setting.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Personal computer, data-entry, and communication skills.
Ability to acquire American Heart Association BLS within 60 days of employment.

Responsibilities

Conduct pre-operative assessments through in-person, virtual, or phone encounters.
Review and verify medical histories, medication lists, allergies, and prior surgical or anesthetic experiences.
Order and/or facilitate diagnostic tests, including laboratory work, EKGs, imaging, and consultations, according to established protocols.
Identify risk factors and escalate concerns to appropriate team members, including requesting additional clearances such as cardiology or pulmonology.
Provide patients and families with pre-operative instructions covering medication management, fasting guidelines, and day-of-surgery logistics.
Document assessments and communications in Epic in a timely manner and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Support PAT Clinic workflow through effective time management, prioritization, and teamwork.
Assist with workflow and process-improvement initiatives to enhance clinic efficiency and patient experience.
Comply with applicable regulatory guidelines, infection-control practices, and safety procedures.
