Registered Nurse (RN) - Psych Acute
About The Position
La Palma Intercommunity Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse for its acute psychiatric services. RNs provide patient care, educate patients about mental and medical conditions, and offer advice and emotional support to patients and their families. The role includes running therapeutic groups and providing psychiatric crisis intervention, including seclusion and restraint when needed. RNs record medical histories and symptoms, assist with diagnostic tests and analysis, operate medical equipment, administer treatments and medications, and support patient follow-up and rehabilitation. They also teach patients and families how to manage illness or injury, follow diet and exercise programs, and self-administer medication and physical therapy. Other related duties may be assigned.
Requirements
- Current and valid State license as a Registered Nurse.
- Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintained thereafter.
- Working knowledge of Mental Health Laws and practice standards.
- Working knowledge of the interdisciplinary treatment team process, behavioral health programming, and daily nursing functions for inpatient and outpatient behavioral health units.
- Working knowledge of the continuum of care for behavioral health care.
