Registered Nurse (RN) - Psych Acute
About The Position
La Palma Intercommunity Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for its acute psychiatric setting. Registered nurses provide patient care, educate patients about mental and medical conditions, and offer advice and emotional support to patients and/or family members. The role includes running therapeutic groups, psychiatric crisis intervention, and seclusion and restraint of patients. Nurses record medical histories and symptoms, assist with diagnostic tests and analysis, operate medical machinery, administer treatment and medications, and support patient follow-up and rehabilitation. They also teach patients and families to manage illness or injury, diet and exercise programs, self-administration of medication, and physical therapy. Other related duties may be assigned.
Requirements
- Current and valid State license as a Registered Nurse.
- Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
- Working knowledge of Mental Health Laws and practice standards.
- Working knowledge of the interdisciplinary treatment team process, behavioral health programming, and daily nursing functions for inpatient and outpatient behavioral health units.
- Working knowledge of the continuum of care for behavioral health care.
