The Clinical Nurse is a competent practitioner who integrates theoretical knowledge with clinical experience in caring for patients and families. Care is delivered using a deliberate, systematic approach, guided by increasing awareness of patterns in patient responses to recurring situations. Nurses demonstrate mastery of most technical skills and begin to approach clinical situations with a patient- and family-focused perspective while providing professional nursing care in clinical areas or campuses as required by staffing matrices. They also supervise and direct delegated nursing acts in keeping with the education and demonstrated abilities of the person supervised.
