About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse for the Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU), providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced, critical environment. The unit cares for adult patients aged 18 and older and has 64 beds, including 15 designated for neuro patients. Common diagnoses and care needs include neuro, cardiac, trauma, COPD and other respiratory issues, DKA, sepsis, myocardial infarction, cardiovascular stepdown, and postoperative care.

The role involves working with specialty equipment including temporary pacemakers, chest tubes, arterial lines, BiPAP machines, and a Neptune Vapo Ventilator. Experience managing chronic ventilators is required, with collaborative support from respiratory therapy. The shift runs from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM. Floating to other units is required as necessary, and the required scrub color is navy blue.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of IMCU/PCU experience and travel experience.
• Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Current National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• Active New York State nursing license, with verification through NURSYS.
• Proficiency with the EPIC EMR system.
• Experience managing chronic ventilators.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality patient care in the Intermediate Care Unit.
• Manage care for adult patients with conditions including neuro, cardiac, trauma, respiratory issues, DKA, sepsis, myocardial infarction, cardiovascular stepdown needs, and postoperative care.
• Use specialty equipment such as temporary pacemakers, chest tubes, arterial lines, BiPAP machines, and a Neptune Vapo Ventilator.
• Manage chronic ventilators in collaboration with respiratory therapy.
• Float to different units as necessary.
