About The Position

Sentara Leigh Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for our Intermediate Care Unit (Stepdown). This 24-bed unit is blended with 8 Step-Down beds for patients who are too ill for general medical/surgical but do not need an intensive level of care for the ICU. The remaining 16 beds are for Med/Surg patients, including some cardiac patients. New graduate nurses are welcome to apply and will participate in an 11-week Transition to Practice program, which is the start of a comprehensive 6-month residency program to support their transition to practice. The RN is responsible for performing a competent level of nursing care using the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching, health promotion, and evaluation. Professional performance standards encompass ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice/nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.

Requirements

  • Education Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
  • Registered nursing License (Required)
  • Students in the process of obtaining a Registered Nursing License.
  • BLS required within 90 days of hire
  • None required experience

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)
  • Students in the process of completing an accredited nursing program.
