The Registered Nurse (RN) in Interventional Radiology works at Texas Health Fort Worth, a Magnet-designated regional referral center serving Tarrant County and surrounding communities. Interventional Radiology performs minimally invasive procedures using imaging guidance, including procedures for biopsy, diagnosis, and intervention. The department has five Interventional Radiology suites and is part of the Vascular and Interventional Radiology and Neuro Endovascular Radiology teams. The IR RN functions independently as part of a direct care team that may include a radiology technologist, a scrub (radiology technologist or RN), a physician assistant, and the physicians performing procedures. The nurse assesses patients throughout vascular and neuroradiology angiographic and interventional procedures, intervenes when appropriate, and supports evidence-based practice. The role offers opportunities to develop skills in moderate sedation, EKG interpretation, lab draws, peripheral IV placement, sterile technique, and scrub assistance. This is a full-time position of 40 hours per week, typically working four 10-hour shifts between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The role includes self-scheduled call requirements, and the employee must be able to report to the department within 30 minutes of a call. The rotating shift schedule allows for a four-day weekend every five weeks.
