Registered Nurse (RN) - Ortho/Joint - (Flexi)

Sentara HealthVirginia Beach, VA
Onsite

About The Position

Sentara Health is currently hiring for an RN to work at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital on the Ortho/Joint 3 West Unit. This position will support both 3W Ortho/Joint and Inpatient Rehab Unit. 3 West Ortho is a 12-bed unit that accommodates a variety of post-operative surgical procedures including total hip, knees, shoulders, ankles & spine. We do anywhere from 10-20+ surgical admissions & discharges per week, so we have a quick patient turnover. Being that most of our patients are admitted via elective procedure it makes the patient population a joy as they are often very thankful for our staff & have an anticipated plan of care managing pain, physical therapy & monitoring post operative complications. We enforce more independence by promoting mobility which decreases the amount of total care patients we have which is also a bonus for our small unit. The team of nurses are passionate about what they do, which increases their ability to provide a positive work environment where each staff member works together to complete their daily tasks through the busy days of a bedside nurse. Unit coordinators work closely with all bedside nurses & especially new nurses to ensure they become comfortable & confident in the care they provide. Being a small unit specializing in orthopedics almost all of our patients have a very similar plan of care & daily routine that provides our nurses with the ability to have a systematic workflow throughout their shift. The unit works closely with three orthopedic surgical groups that always have genuinely dedicated Nurse Practitioners & Physician Assistants on site or easily accessible enhancing the care we can provide to our patients in a timely manner without impeding our workflow. The manager is hands on with patient care & assisting with any needs, flexible & easy to talk to. The team enjoys listening to music & having pizza parties frequently to enhance positivity & fuel motivation.
