About The Position

Amedisys, part of the Optum family of businesses, provides home health, hospice, and community-based services. The PRN Registered Nurse coordinates and oversees patients’ home care, collaborating with care teams to develop and implement individualized care plans. The role includes assessing patients, providing skilled nursing care, educating families, maintaining timely documentation, and communicating patient progress to the clinical manager, physician, and care team. This position receives per-visit-point compensation for visits and hourly pay for certain non-visit activities, such as orientation. Visits are assigned based on patient and business needs, and their frequency may vary. The listed annual total cash compensation assumes full-time employment at 40 hours per week and full productivity; the role is identified as PRN.

Requirements

Current RN license specific to the state or states assigned.
Current CPR certification.
At least 1 year of clinical experience as a registered nurse; candidates with less than 1 year must be approved by the VP of Clinical.
If clinical RN experience is less than 6 months, participation in the RN Intern program is required.
Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and liability insurance.

Responsibilities

Coordinate and oversee all aspects of patients’ home care.
Collaborate with patient care teams to develop and implement care plans.
Educate families about the patient’s condition, needs, and care.
Perform head-to-toe physical assessments.
Check vital signs and manage medications.
Administer injections, IV therapy, or tube feedings.
Administer and maintain catheters.
Complete documentation accurately and on time.
Supervise LPNs and HHAs.
Regularly communicate patient progress to the clinical manager, physician, and care team.
Perform other duties as assigned.
