Registered Nurse - Psych Adult
About The Position
St. Mary's General Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse for its adult psychiatric services. Registered nurses provide patient care, educate patients about mental and medical conditions, and offer advice and emotional support to patients and family members. Duties include leading therapeutic groups; psychiatric crisis intervention; and seclusion and restraint of patients. Nurses document patients’ medical histories and symptoms, assist with diagnostic testing and interpretation of results, operate medical equipment, administer treatments and medications, and support patient follow-up and rehabilitation. They also teach patients and families about managing illness or injury, diet and exercise programs, self-administering medication, and physical therapy. Other related duties may be assigned. This is a per diem, day-shift position at St. Mary's General Hospital in Passaic, New Jersey.
Requirements
- Current and valid State license as a Registered Nurse.
- Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
- Working knowledge of Mental Health Laws and practice standards.
- Working knowledge of the interdisciplinary treatment team process, behavioral health programming, and daily nursing functions for inpatient and outpatient behavioral health units.
- Working knowledge of the continuum of care for behavioral health care.
