About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) coordinates nursing care, including direct patient care, patient and family education, and transitions of care. The RN supports professional nursing practice across settings and the continuum of care to meet patient and family needs. Working within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model and the ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice, the RN plans, implements, evaluates, and communicates all phases of care for assigned patients.

The RN provides leadership through precepting, formal and informal leadership, and quality improvement efforts. The RN delegates care based on skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability, and available resources. The position also involves communication, mentoring, teaching, and potentially participating in committees or projects. Some employees may be required to drive a personal vehicle as part of their role.

The role is eligible for TN sponsorship. Applicants with F-1 status eligible for post-completion OPT may apply; the role is not eligible for the F-1 STEM OPT extension program. Successful sponsorship requires state licensure and completion of VisaScreen or an equivalent certification.

Requirements

• Graduate of a nursing program.
• Current RN license in accordance with applicable state requirements.
• Meet the applicable baccalaureate degree completion requirement for entry-level associate degree registered nurses.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Computer skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, potentially including days, evenings, nights, holidays, weekends, and on-call.
• Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations in the work setting.
• Demonstrated leadership, effective communication, and excellent critical-thinking skills.
• Maintain Basic Life Support competency where required by state and work area.
• Additional state licensure, specialty certification, or training as required by the work area.

Nice To Haves

• One year of RN experience in an applicable care setting or one year of LPN experience at Mayo Clinic.
• Prior experience with electronic medical record systems.
