Registered Nurse (RN) - GI Endoscopy (Per Diem)

About The Position

The Registered Nurse works in a busy GI Endoscopy Unit caring for inpatient and outpatient populations, including patients in pre-operative and post-operative care settings. The nurse works in a collaborative environment with interdisciplinary teams and follows a patient-centered care model. Under the direction and general supervision of the Nurse Manager, the nurse uses evidence-based practices and the nursing process to develop plans of care that address patients’ and families’ physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and educational needs, in accordance with the State Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies and procedures. The unit performs advanced endoscopy procedures, including Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection (ESD), Per Oral Endoscopic Myotomy (POEM), ERCP, EUS, motility procedures, ablation, and small bowel enteroscopy. Nurses are highly trained and skilled in their specialties.

Requirements

Current Connecticut RN license.
Graduation from an accredited nursing school; a BSN is required.
BLS certification from the American Heart Association before the date of hire.
Highly motivated, energetic, organized, and able to multitask.
Leadership skills and willingness to take on departmental projects and tasks.

Nice To Haves

1–2 years of Stepdown or ICU experience.

Responsibilities

Provide care to inpatient and outpatient patients in the GI Endoscopy Unit.
Care for patients in pre-operative and post-operative settings.
