Registered Nurse, Intermediate Care Unit, 36 Hours (Nights / Rotating Weekends)
About The Position
Boston Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Critical Care/Y6 Intermediate Care Unit. The Medical Step Down unit has 38 beds and provides care for intermediate-level medical patients, including complex cardiology patients, patients with pericardial drains, TAVR patients, ventilated patients, and patients transferred from the MICU with complex medical issues. The RN delivers patient-centered, evidence-based nursing care in a supportive nursing organization and contributes to exceptional and equitable care for patients, families, and the community. The schedule is 36 hours, nights, with rotating weekends.
Requirements
- Must have an active or pending Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) license, or the ability to obtain one.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is required in certain units.
- Nursing degree: diploma, Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN), or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); ability to obtain a BSN within four years.
- Relevant clinical experience and/or specialty certification is required for certain practice areas.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Physical ability to meet job responsibilities.
- Basic computer proficiency.
Nice To Haves
- One or more years of RN experience preferred.
- BSN preferred.
- Fluency in another language is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Deliver nursing care, including assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, evaluating, and educating patients.
- Communicate with healthcare team members, patients, and families.
- Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to inter-professional colleagues.
- Update and manage patient records.
- Enter and interpret computerized data and information.
- Follow guidelines and policies established by BMC’s nursing organization.
- Assist the leadership team with quality improvement projects as needed.
