About The Position

Wellpath is hiring a part-time Registered Nurse to join the clinical team at LaSalle County Jail. The RN provides patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, working under the supervision of Charge Nurse(s). The position includes patient education and activities within the nurse’s competencies and education, and requires strong communication and critical-thinking skills to support optimal patient outcomes. This role is scheduled for 24 hours per week on day shift, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The RN will provide compassionate care to underserved and vulnerable patients in a correctional healthcare setting.

Requirements

Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
Hold and maintain current Registered Nurse licensure in the state of employment.
Be able to obtain and maintain CPR certification.

Nice To Haves

A minimum of one year of clinic experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist in assessing patients and planning individual treatment programs in consultation with Charge Nurse(s) and other staff.
Implement medical plans by administering medications, obtaining diagnostic tests, and assisting with medical or minor surgical procedures as needed.
Count controlled substances and carry out clinical and technical aspects of care according to established policies, procedures, and protocols.
Document nursing encounters using SOAP charting as required by policy.
Attend mandatory staff meetings and training.
Communicate relevant information to nursing staff, physicians, health care unit supervisory personnel, and other staff as necessary.
Provide patient education and activities in accordance with competencies and education.
