About The Position

The Registered Nurse administers and supervises medication administration and participates in the plan of care for Bellefaire JCB clients. The nurse responds to clients’ health needs and makes appropriate assessments and referrals. The position serves clients in residential treatment units, transitional living, Monarch School, and the After School Program, and also assists with the Health Clinic’s daily operations.

The role includes providing health assessments and treatments, supporting pediatrician visits and outside medical appointments, educating clients and staff, training new staff, maintaining medication and clinical documentation, and keeping the exam room and Health Clinic clean, stocked, and orderly. The schedule is days, with alternating weekends and holidays.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited nursing school.
• Hold a valid Ohio Registered Nurse license.
• Have experience working with children and adolescents.
• Keep required trainings, certifications, and licensure current in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards.

Responsibilities

• Administer and supervise medication administration for clients in residential treatment units, transitional living, Monarch School, and the After School Program according to established guidelines.
• Participate in implementing clients’ plans of care.
• Make rounds in cottages and attend to clients’ health care needs.
• Conduct physical assessments and document significant findings in client records.
• Screen clients and make appropriate referrals to the pediatrician.
• Assist the pediatrician with client examinations in the Health Clinic.
• Teach clients and staff about health care topics and medications.
• Document billable direct-care hours using the time log system.
• Perform indicated medical treatments, such as wound care.
• Orient new staff and train them on policies and procedures.
• Attend client staffing and treatment team meetings as indicated.
• Assist and train cottage staff in making appropriate decisions about clients’ health care needs.
• Note, transcribe, and check orders against Medication Administration Records when indicated.
• Contact physicians about abnormal lab results and emergencies.
• Count narcotics daily and sign controlled-substance audit sheets.
• Order, receive, and distribute routine and Leave of Absence medications.
• Return and credit medications when indicated.
• Call for lab results when indicated and follow up on outside medical appointments.
• Assist with daily Health Clinic operations, including helping the secretary with filing, obtaining consent, and scheduling outside appointments.
• Keep the exam room and Health Clinic clean, stocked, and orderly.
• Contribute to clinical records by completing assigned documentation on time and in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards.
• Attend scheduled staff meetings, supervision, and ongoing training.
• Keep required trainings, certifications, and licensure current.
• Maintain ethical and professional conduct and adhere to Agency policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
